Q: Can't create any alias in iCloud mail, see message "Cannot save alias.

Can't create any alias in iCloud mail, see message "Cannot save alias. This alias cannot be saved at this time". I tried different variations at different dates (I thought this is temporary issue) but this not helped me. Perhaps some of you have resolved this issue and can tell me how I can do it?

At this point, the only aliases you can create must use @icloud.com for the domain.

...added to which your account may not yet have been updated to use the @icloud.com address, in which case you won't be able to create an alias until it has been - Apple are working through everyone's account's (all 150 million of them) and we don't know how long it will take. You could try sending yourself a message from time to time to check.

How do I know if my account has been updated? when I try to create an alias, "@icloud.com" is already filled in (and is not change-able).  I've been trying to add an alias for months now.

And, how do I know if that's the problem, or if it's that I'm trying to use an alias that's already taken? (I've tried several, and get the "cannot save alias at this time" message every time)

Do you see in account settings two email addresses - with "@me.com" and "@icloud.com"? Or only "@me.com"? In second case just wait - your account will be updated in some time. I've waiting from summer and my account was updated in one day as soon as I've start this discussion   When your account will be updated - you will see in preferences two addresses, with "@me.com" and with "@icloud.com".

Mine shows both. (and actually even shows the original @mac.com address too!)

so I don't know what the problem is.  It seems a ton of people are having this problem, and the only answer I've found is "wait for your account to upgrade", but mine has been up to date for at least a few weeks.  Guess I'll just keep waiting...

Are you still waiting Alexroet?  Are others still experiencing the same?  I was migrated from MobileMe as well, and still no resolution for me.  I was able to get a ticket open with Apple Support; received a call-back, and subsequently shared me screen with the rep.  I got confirmation that all steps were being performed correctly and that it should work, but no resolution of the prob.
