There is no bootcamp drivers for windows 8 yet but you can still dual boot with the operating system, you just wont have a working trackpad. Everything else I managed to get up and running.

It depends I guess, I have a retina Macbook Pro and mine wasn't working.

Use a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox to install Windows 8. Then you won't need to find any drivers that may or may not exist.

I'm using a macbook air with windows 8 and the trackpad works no problem.  I'm using the bootcamp 4.0 drivers.

    nicros,

Did you perform a full installation of Windows 8 from scratch using the Bootcamp utility, or did you do an in place upgrade from Win 7/Vista/XP using Windows 8 upgrade media?

I'm looking at doing the latter on my late 2011 MBP with Win7 running under Bootcamp; just trying to get an idea of how viable the exercise might be.

    Thanks.

I tried to do an upgrade from win7 which failed- so did a clean install on that partition from a bootable usb- not through the bootcamp utility.

The hard part for me was getting the bootcamp 4.0 package- I wasn't able to download it anywhere from a windows system- I could only get it through osx.  Once I installed that and got everything up to date no problems.

Well, 1 problem.  I can't adjust the brightness on my mba (2010).  I uninstalled refit, tried to boot holding alt, set some display auto adjust stuff off, everything I could think of.  Its full bright.

It's a nice screen so mostly thats okay, just at night it's a bit much.

I've installed Windows 8 on bootcamp. It was a clean install. It wouldn't let me select a HDD to install it to initially so I formatted the set BOOTCAMP HDD that was showing and it let me install it. After that I installed the Bootcamp 4.0 drivers which appear to work. My trackpad is working fine. Only thing I can't remember is if the MacBook gestures etc worked on my Windows 7 on Bootcamp? I can't also remember if for a right-click on Windows you had to have two fingers on the trackpad and then click for right-click. Although annoying it is working.

If anyone knows how to change this please let me know.

None-the-less OP you can still install it fine.

    @Disgrunttled:

    Thanks for the update.

On my late 2011 MBP, a double click under Boot Camp Win7 was/is a two finger press on the trackpad. Under OSX Mountain Lion it's either a two finger press or a single finger press+ the CTRL key modifier.

Are you able to do a two finger horizontal scroll through/across the Metro interface?

I meant to say that I am using Late 2011 MBP.

If tha's the way the trackpad works with Windows 7 then the track pad is working as it should. The top panel of buttins i.e. brightness, play etc function as F keys only. Can you confirm if this was the same in Windows 7 too? I can't remember but ideally would like these to work. Cheers mate.

Edit: I can scroll through the metro interface and webpages or folders etc. On  the metro interface you scroll up or down to make it go left or right.  It stopped working when I did something but I rebooted and it worked  fine.

Yup, the two finger swipe works to scroll horizontally in the metro interface.

Only thing I can think of that doesnt work is just that annoying brightness problem.

I'm running Windows 8 on a 2012 mac book air installed via usb stick. No problems so far. Brigtness can be adjusted from setting within the Metro Interface. Put your cursor to in the top right corner of the screen to see the Metro options. Click the cog icon (settings) and change the brightness from within there. Hope it works for you.

Brightness also works on the keyboard except it dims and brightens for 3 brightness settings only. paulfromwigan advises of the other way.

Brightness doesn't work for me through metro or anything else.

I wonder if it's because Im on a 2010 mba?  Or because I am running the latest nvidia drivers?   I just upgraded to mountain lion so Im going to try bootcamp 5.0 and see if that improves anything.  If bootcamp 5 is available that is
