The 3rd gen iPad comes out at 04/2012, now you can not find it in the apple store's website. What happen to it? Apple store says, it has been replaced by iPad 4th. But the iPad 2nd still is selling in the store. As one of holder of iPad 3rd, I feel so disappoint. The disappear of iPad 3rd, does it mean the 3rd iPad is not perfect. If it is not perfect what apple have to produce them. Now, you said 4th is better. But we pay for the same price for a not perfect iPad. Do not understand that?

Nobody here will know why Apple have decided to replace the 3rd gen iPad with the new 4th gen, that's a decision that Apple has made, and will possibly never tell the public about.

But by no means does this mean your iPad isn't perfect, I myself have the 3rd gen iPad, finished paying it off about 2 months ago, as far as I see it, the 4th gen is just an incremental upgrade, mainly due to the LTE/4G debacle when the 3rd gen iPad was released.

I'm in Australia, and there was a massive outcry from people who purchased the Cellular version and then weren't able to use the LTE here because the 3rd gen didn't support the Australian bands. So in that case it makes sense to have re-released the product, as the capability was hardware, not software, and it would have meant people not able to use the LTE would have had to wait another year.

I myself have the Wi-Fi only model of the 3rd gen iPad, I don't think i've missed out on anything, the product you have is still perfectly capable of doing what it should do, and is by no means imperfect.

"As for the iPad 4, I'm not at all upset that Apple 'obsoleted' my 6-month-old iPad 3. You're asking me would I rather the pace of innovation slowed down just so I could feel like the king of the hill for a bit longer? That's crazy. If there's one thing you'll never hear me ask for, it would be that Apple slow down the rate at which iPads get better." (Source)

I know its unfair for the iPad 3 owners. But Apple did it to promote the lightning connectors and also there is fierce battle going on in the tablets market. They should have only upgraded that part on the iPad, but I don't know what made them to add a few other changes. I think its a step to tackle the recently launched Surface tablet. But don't worry, iPad 3 is almost every inch an iPad 4.

I think that Apple replaced the 3rd Gen to have uniformity with other IOS Devices and to make sure that the lightning connector is the standard across the IOS platform and is accepted as such.

Also the A6x chip hasn't been jail broken yet (this is in the 4th gen ipad and ip5) and I would imagine that Apple is gaining ground on hackers (hiring jail breakers to tell them how to close all exploits) making the Apple Eco system even more secure.

I had a jail broken phone before and personally it was good but I believe it drains the battery quicker and leaves you more vulnerable to rogue apps and what not...

I think that the tweaks you can apply to your IOS device when you jailbreak are really cool and that Apple should integrate a winter board like app into its IOS so that you can truely have an "Idevice" "I" as in mine not Apples.

NB. Thanks for the awesome devices Apple! I love your products but it IOS needs to allow more personal customisation options.

This will curb the temptation to download pirated apps and make you even more money so you can develop even more amazing products!

No one from Apple is going to read that part of this post But oh well
