Could you explain what you are trying to accomplish? I don't think I understand your question, but perhaps more details on what you are trying to do would help.

Thanks Chris. I have an Apple Configurator profile applied to a users iPad that blocks the App Store. I need to place a new profile on the iPad that allows access to the App Store. However, when I check in the device it creates a backup and the original profile is saved in the backup. When I try to apply the new profile it is deployed to the device successfully but when I restore the backup for the user the original profile overrights the new profile. Both profiles are present after the backup is restored. I need to be able to place a new profile on a device AND restore data from a backup without that backup applying the original profile.

Trying changing the profiles without checking the device in. You can:
1. Uncheck the old profile with the app store restriction
2. Check the new profile without it.
3. Press Apply.
The user will remain on the device, but the profiles will be updated. After that, a check-in should create a user backup without the profiles in it.

Unfortunately the original profile has been deleted from Apple Configurator so I can't uncheck it in the Supervise area.

You should be backing up all Configurator installations with Time Machine - if you are you can restore the original profile. If you are not backing up supervised profiles you will lose all the VPP codes if there is a crash.

Can you try deleting the profile by hand on the device. Go to 'Settings', 'General', 'Profiles' on the device and remove the profile with the App Store restriction.
After that, check in the device. The profile should be gone forever.
