Q: iOS 6 Bluetooth problems

So I have an iPhone 4S and IPad 2. I have updated them both to iOS 6 and am having Bluetooth problems on both devices... It connects and plays for about a minute and for some odd reason it cuts out every couple seconds/minutes. I have to keep pausing or skipping tracks in order for the music to play comfortably again. This happens to me on BOTH devices and also happens on my buddies iPhone 4S as well.

I never had any of these problems in iOS 5... So does anyone know if it could be a bug or how I can fix it?

I have the same problem with a new iPhone 5 and the Alpine CDE-133BT.  The most crippling aspect is not being able to use my phone through my car system.  I am a physician and need to receive and make hands free calls during my commute.

    Dear Apple,

It is a terrible sign that I check your forums daily hoping for a remedy to this Bluetooth connectivity problem for a brand new product.  Here I find a growing number of your customers with the same complaint.  After weeks of visiting these forums with no solution in sight, I do not see even an aknowledgement of the problem from the company.  The car system manufacturer also is waiting on you for a response to address the situation.

What happened to "it just works?"

    Regretfully Yours,

A soon to be former customer

This is with a iPhone5 and Ford Sync

I’m able to Setup BT with the iPhone5.  After I pair it everything works, but it will not stay connected to BT Audio.  Once you turn off the car Aux reverts to line in.  If i try and change it on the radio, it says no BT found. If i cycle BT on/off on the phone, i can get it to work but that’s getting to be a pain.  In another test I got in the car turned the radio on and checked the iPhone5, which listed sync  as ‘Not Connected’.  If I force the phone to connect it will, sometimes the phone will just spin trying to connect but it will give up, sync will say ‘No Device Found’.   Turning BT on the iPhone5 on and off at this point it will usually connect but just the one time until the truck is turned off.  Applecare suggested that i update the radio which i did and no change. . .

Same truck with iPhone4s never had a problem. I was able to Sync without any problems.  If i turned on BT Audio it would stay on.  If i shut the car off and came back later it still worked, no action necessary.

I am having the same issue with iOS 6 and iPhone 5. I had iPhone 4S  with iOS 6 beta working flawlessly, but the release version on the iPhone 5 killed the functionality in my 2012 Lexus. I cannot believe this isn't a huge problem for thousands of users who drive. Apple needs to address this and come up with a solution.

This IS a huge problem for thousands of users, clearly caused by Apple.

And quite apparently ignored by Apple.

IOS6 broke Bluetooth compatibility in both my vehicles, one with a 2012 head unit, the other a 2012 model car!

Pages & pages of forum posts (here & elsewhere), device manufacturers deluged with support calls, but not a peep from Cupertino.

    Hey Everyone:

Last week, my bluetooth with iTunes started working on my car. I wish I could say I did something magical. I did not. It just appeared and started working. Perhaps an update happened on the phone. Whatever happened, I'm glad to be able to listen to music in my car again.

Since we had the same issue, I hope the magic of getting things to work happens to your phone again too. Perhaps my post will give you hope things will work out. I wish you all well.

    Hi,

same problem on BT Citroen e-myway Car System. After connecting an Iphone 4S (IOS6) i can make outbound calls, but whenever i receive an incoming call, the iphone rings, but nothing happens on the BT System.

Other BT phones such as Galaxy Ace, have no problems at all.....

Streaming music over BT System instead works fine. Even the pairing once acquired it works fine.

    Thanks for support.

Just an update, as I was able to fix it.  I had to delete all profiles in the radio, forget the device on the phone.  Once i did that and re-paired ford sync did work and has no problems, worked like before.  This is a 2010 ford sync, i believe it never forgot the 4s which was set as primary, when re-added i was prompted setting as primary and enable 911, once i did that all was well.

I am having the same problem keeping a reliable connection in my 2012 Hyundai Genesis.

    Has Apple posted a reply?

The bottom line is that IOS 6 is a piece of s*** and Tim Cook's apology is exactly the same. A real apology would be to allow a way to go back to IOS 5.x.x until they fix this abomination. Firing Forstall was way to little especially considering the sweetheart deal he got. I suggest a class action lawsuit for breach of contract but I'm sure Appple's billions have bought legal protection from that. The bottom line is we are all screwed. We drank the Job's Koolaid.

IOS 6.01 Update seems to have repaired the issue.

On your iPhone or iPad, Go to Settings, General, Software Update.  What is the message that it reads?

    Hi.

    New iOS, same problems.

I will use (cable) headphones while driving. I often have phone calls while driving and without a hands-free solution it's too dangerous.

Hoping iOS 6.0.2 will solve the problem...

    Bye bye
