Worked for me too. My iPhone 5 is also running a LOT cooler and my data plan usage has gone way down.
It's a shame that an app made by Apple is SO poorly written and buggy. Now I have to find a good alternative podcasts app, but that shouldn't be too hard.

What is everyone using to download podcasts?

I'm back to the old fashioned way of downloading them through iTunes and wifi syncing... (painful I know) Hopefully won't be long before Apple fixes the Podcasts app...

I recently downloaded the podcasts app on my iPad 3(iOS6) and have been having battery drain issues, so I'm going to delete this and see if it works! I've lost 17% from only using Chrome, Twitter, and FB in less than an hour.

I downloaded Downcast. It seems to work OK and you can create playlist. I have not tried the Podcast app since Apple updated it.

Yup. Deleting the Podcast app worked for me too big-time. iP4 would be at 55%-60% by 2 pm with very little use (light texting, maybe 1 hr of iPod use); today after deleting the app, I'm at 90%. BIG DIFFERENCE. Tried turning off iMessages, changing mail settings, etc. This worked great.

It worked for me, but this is the umpteenth app that does this. I've wasted more time googling how to save battery than I have using the actual phone. Why bother doing more than texting if all the features drain the battery anyway?? I am first time iphone user and am never buying another one. This one's going on ebay. I am in is a constant battle with the battery. No matter what I try, there's always some other app I need to turn off every few hours. Is this typical? Is every iphone user going throuhg this crap? Infuriating. I was warned about this but didn't listen.

I love Downcast. It's amazing. Apple should just buy them.
It does everything you can want or think of for a Podcast app.
Apple's podcast app is better now, but that's not saying much. I'd never, ever touch podcasts through itunes with Downcast....except I use my shuffle for working out and want my podcasts there too.
If Downcast interfaced with iTunes....I'd cry tears of joy. Mainly because the podcast app is so aggrevating.

When Apple store upgraded operating system to 6.01, battery life deteriorated to extent would discharge 80% during day with minimal activity. As part of upgrade, they installed podcast app. I deleted it and battery drain issue resolved. Fortunately, Apple did not lock the app from deletion as they do with numerous apps tat I don't use such as stocks.iPhone 4, iOS 6.0.1

Does anyone know of anyway of bringing back the standard fast forward/backward buttons on the homepage double click interface for the music app rather than the 15 min jump forward/backward buttons?! Ta
