Well, I was out today and so needed the cellular data and it was still draining pretty quickly.
At home, when in standby mode, I don't think it's draining that quickly.
p.s. Outside I was getting LTE speeds like 34 Mbps.

Down to 24% battery. Usage just 3 hours 1 minute and standby 7 hours 8 minutes. Also it feels noticeably warm when using it.
What could be causing this? It like just a 4 hour battery at this rate.

I've done some tests and i came to following conclusion that works really great for me.
I'm guessing you guys restored everything from a backup. I setup my phone as a new one. When done and ready i connected to itunes and downloaded my apps and music. (not from backup)
I now sync with icloud, use 3G/LTE have push activated and so on and my battery life is great.
A friend of mine restored from backup and had the same issues as you guys are experiencing. He then did what i suggested and now everything is back to normal.
I'm guessing the backup is somehow ******* something up. I havent investigated the reason as there are several possibilities.

I'm doing the same thing right now. It's actuallly dozens of times faster to do that and reset things which don't get set right (why some are set and others are not is a mystery to be, but that's for another discussion) than it is restoring from my iPhone 4 iCloud backup.

Sorry, but my phone breaks your premise. My phone was new on Thursday, has yet to be hooked to a computer (no sync, no restore of another phone - came from Android), and I'm lucky to get 10 hours out of it.
I'm traveling with another pilot, he also got his phone Thursday (albeit his is ATT, mine is Verizon). We're in the same plane (so airplane mode the same amout of time), in the same hotel (so same crappy service on both carriers, etc). Last night (he had talked more, streamed Pandora), I was at 10%, he was at 67%.
Today, after 12 hours, I'm showing 19% - 5 hours, 2 minutes usage, 11 h, 54 min standby. In three days of owning the phone, I've had 2h, 15 min call time, sent 55 mb, received 296 mb.

I've been having really bad battery. I've returned and exchanged my ip5 4 times at the apple store and each time I had poor battery. I tried setting up as new and doing a restore with nothing working but this morning I tried a dfu restore where I turn off the iPhone then plug into computer and hold sleep and home button at same time for several seconds then let go of sleep button but keep holding home button. I read an article that suggested the issue could be with the firmware which apparently is not reinstalled but only the os is. But with a dfu restore, it reinstalls both. Anyway I tried that this morning and so far so good. I'm currently at 58% and I have used the phone for 7h6m of usage and 8h7m of standby. During that usage time I listened to slacker radio for 4hrs and watched videos for the rest of the time. One note is I do have lte turned off.

Returning the phone isn't going to help. I did that once and the new phone behaved exactly the same. There is a bug and it relates to cellular data being turned on. Disable cellular data and this is the battery life I get:
Some are saying the bug also has to do with Safari - I don't see how that can be because Safari doesn't drain the battery on WiFi but who knows. Some said to disable Safari in the settings and use Chrome - how does one disable Safari completely out of curiousity? I'm not sure how to do that. I'll give it a try but I don't see how Safari can be causing problems on cellular data but not WiFi.

So you are basically on wifi most of the time?
What about your talk time? Do you talk on the phone much?
What I heard regarding Safari was that if you were upgrading from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5 and had synced bookmarks some were generating errors in the diagnostics log. I did see that happening, so reset and started over again as a new iPhone and instead of restoring anything from iCloud I synced what I needed from iTunes.
Before I did this my iPhone 5 was running hot and draining quickly. Now it's running cool and the battery is down to 81%, Usage is 1 Hours, 17 Minutes and standby is 4 Hours, 33 minutes.
This multiplies out to a predicted 6.75 hours at this rate, which is something I can live with, and in accordance with what was advertised.
I might try what you did - turning off cellular data - after my next full charge. But I've used very little cellular data - only 34 MB total. Is your theory that searching for the cellular data signal causes draining?

As I test I just used only WiFi for this charge, yes. I did not talk on the phone very much but did a lot of texting, web browsing, maps, etc.
I don't have a good theory for what causes it. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. When cellular data is turned on my battery drains quickly and my phone gets warm or even sorta hot. However, I used two apps to monitor CPU usage and data usage and neither shows a spike. Don't understnad how it can get hot and drain the battery if it's not sending data or using the CPU or both.
As for signal strength I don't think it's that. I'm in a big city with strong signal everywhere.

I dont understand that talk about iPhone 5 and battery draining. Mine is running very good, as a matter of fact, it is the best iPhone I have ever had, also when i come to battery time.
Today my phone has been standby for 82 hours, I have used it for almost 10 hours, and there is still 22% left.
Come on guys, that's great - I charged it the night between thursday and friday, and I gues I am charging again to night, I have used my great iphone 5 for 3 days without any charging....
