No. No trade in is possible.

You can return your current iPad only if you purchased it from the Apple Store in the last fourteen days, or if you purchased from a dealer if you're within that dealer's return period. If you're beyond the return period, then you'll need to sell your current iPad to get money for the new model.

    Regards.

iPad 4 - powered by the tears of users from iPad 3.

Don't you just feel like a guinea pig?

"new" iPad owners in UK , or as we call it here iPad 3 have been equally turned over with the introduction of the "new new" ipad or iPad 4 as it is known locally. Conversations via email with customers services on the subject are met with no reply. Conversations with Apple Stores are a) very short  and b) seem to cause a transient hearing impediment with the sales " consultant"......  Working on the business principle of "we have got you money so go away" and with caveat emptor on the side of Apple corporate expediency has replaced loyalty to customers. Other consumer electronic companies in the past developed this problem which in turn hit their balance sheet and the fortune of the company..

We all have a choice when we purchase.....as I did when I bought the "old" "new" ipad to replace my ipad 2...

I also despite having searched the Apple website have not been able to spot the public apology that Apple has to make to Samsung following the UK Courts finding that Samsung did not copy the iPad design from Apple...... funny some companies think they are answerable to nobody, neither their customers of the law of the land .

I would be fine if I had to pay $100 for the new iPad in exchange for my iPad 3.  I bought it 3 weeks after it came out. They should have some way to help us out.  Amazon will give $365 for the iPad black 16 gab WiFi but only in amazon credit and the new iPad still isn't in the store.

Carl Wolf is right, stop whinning like a little girl. The iPad 4 does NOT remove ANY of the functionality of the iPad 3. No one here can help you. Deal with it and move on.

It does in the uk and a few other countries its called 4g!! the 3 it does not work and never will the 4 it does work ! and if like me and loads of other customers you bought the device on the premise that it was 4g capable then you have been had! because it does not do it but then tada apple bring out the 4 which just so happens to works on the uk 4g network that launches oooo coincidence in 2 days! now do you see why some might be a tad peed off!

Just remember your point of view is just that try and look from others also thus this is how we get the bigger and clearer picture

I must say just because you bought your 3rd gen right before the 4th doesn't mean Apple did anything wrong. With the way you people are saying is Apple released the 4th gen too soon. Just because you didn't know it was coming out doesn't make it Apple's responsibility to hand you a brand new iPad for nothing.

You'll get a new(ish) iPad 3 that will likely be refurbished (which is what would happen still if it was the current product) and will be exactly the same as a new iPad 3. They'll keep stock of refurbished iPad 3s for a while.

I have a similar issue...my uncle asked what I wanted as a present and I said a new ipad came out with support for Australian 4G networks and to get that...it's the 'new' ipad. Of course he went into the store and asked for the latest 'new' ipad on 28/10 and they sold him an ipad3 which retailed for the same price as an ipad4.

So when I got it I was advised by the telco that my version was not compatible. I called applecare to ask them if I could swap it being 1 week out from purchase and of course they said go back to the store it was purchased from. No surprises the store doesn't want anything to do with it, they just want to get rid of their old stock.

Now I am stuck with an ipad which I did not want (I specifically did not want the ipad3 because it did not support our local networks' 4G) and Apple have washed their hands of it.

This is terrible policy...at first I was upset Apple or the reseller won't exchange it but really I don't blame the reseller now...my grief is in the stupid Apple naming policy..."oh it's the new ipad with retina display now" .... hang on a second the ipad3 was also the 'new' ipad with retina display (maybe not by name) and was never referred to as the ipad 3rd gen...now they're saying oh it's now the ipad3 you want the ipad with retina display...guess what your stupid naming convention means half the noobs out there don't know what they're buying.

The identical naming convention has caused my uncle to purchase an obsolete product for top dollar...I have an iphone 3g, 4, 4s, touch, etc. well I think it's safe to say android is the future. I'm already finding streaming media is made impossible by Apple's DRM and policies...something my $100 andoid tablet can do easy.
