My brand new Mac Mini has a strange error which i have never seen on any computer.  At rare intervals my monitor shows a short (1 sec) interference. During this brief moment my apple cinema display shows 'multi colored snow'.  It looks like the 'snow-interference' on old school tv's, but these speckles are in black, white AND red, green & blue.

I've got a cinema display connected through the provided Apple HDMI-DVI converter. The display itself never showed any interference on my old mac mini.

Does anyone experiences the same problem?

or.. does anyone has a clue what's happening here?

Cheers,

Bruno

same problem here, direct hdmi to an hdmi monitor.  happened when i was trying to play a game.  happened again this morning watching comedy central full screen.

im assuming its a video driver issue?

I get the same exact problem on my new Mac Mini late 2012 i5. Mine is hooked up to a 60'' Sony Bravia TV through HDMI. Hopefully an update will be able to fix it.

Also, my external hard drive isn't being read every time I restart my Mac Mini, I have to unplug the USB 3.0 drive and then replug it back in...

Thank goodness I'm not the only one!  I'm just posting a "me too" to have this post gain some visibility.  I have the same TV as Javier, except I go through a yamaha receiver.  A little sad because this is my first mac mini ever, and I want to use it as a plex server!!!  What a sinking feeling you get when this happens.  It's not that bad though (yet).

I'm just hoping it's a software issue that can be easily fixed with an update and not a hardware defect. It clearly is not an isolated incident because quite a few of us are having this issue.

How frequent is the occurrence of this?

The first occurence is within 15 minutes after startup.  I guess two or three times per evening.

Thanks, a real expert not associated with Apple may be looking into this, this weekend, if they get there hands on a Mini.

On average, to me, it happens around 3 times in a span of about 3 hours. I have also noticed that the lengths of the video blackouts vary from about 1 second to about 7 seconds. Sometimes it is a 1 second video blip with no "snow-like interference" other times I get a blackout for about 3 seconds, then snow for 1 second and black for another 3 seconds. I am going to do my part in having this issue resolved for everybody. I also received a call from an Apple engineer.

I've the same issue with Mac Mini (late 2012). In addition, my display screen (via HDMI) is losing light colors, similar to the screenshot shows here.

    How about your screens?

That screenshot doesn't show the problem but I suspect it is due to the fact that what he is seeing is actually caused by improper monitor settings.

In your case, has it all of a sudden started losing light colors or has it been like that since you purchased it?

It has been that since my purchased and start using of the Mini (late 2012).

The same monitor was used with macbook and there was no problem.
