recording on Garage band with a Zoom H2 microphone. some tracks come out distorted when playing back.

eg. same recording session. 5 different projects (single track using "female basic") (simple songs voice and guitar acoustic)

5 songs come out great

song #6 playback is ALL DISTORTED

all 6 projects have exact same settings

took mac into store 2 weeks ago due to this and other issues.

all hardware wass checked and alright.

all software updated....

ughhhh this is a recurring issue we have not been able to figure out

previous trouble shooting included purchasing new zoom H2 mic, and distortion still appeard AT PLAY BACK. even with projects we had previously finalized, exported and saved on itunes. when going back to original GB project, project would play back distorted.

Have you tried lowering the recording level on the H2 recorder?

    Many possibilities could cause distortion.

some things to try (if you have'nt already)

Check all Gain settings in GarageBand, Gain settings of Mic including the H2's Auto Gain feature.

check if your H2 production date is later than 2007 as some 3Mic H2's had a problem, design changed to 4Mics

Make sure Ducking in GarageBand's Control menu was not used on other tracks inside your project.

Although your recoring may be good, the independent volume or gain for that particular track may too high. Play the audio back on the H2 (pref with headphones) and see if you hear the distortion there.

The answer will be something simple if youve got a later model of the H2
