    I am having similar problems. My proximity sensor light up even though I have raise to speak off.

    Raise to Speak is for Siri. Other functions, like turning the display on/off while on a call, that use the proximity sensor will still be performed.

    I'm saying that no matter what, the proximity sensor is on as long as the screen is on.

    I will write a little article and post it on my blog about the battery drain issue and the fact that millions of people are having the same problem and apple doesn't seem to realize it as a problem.

    Think you're right. Apple is not going to fix anything. I think we can get better support elsware. This forum is becoming a joke.

    I suspect most of the battery issues are related to the cellular data/wifi issues that are being rumored to be addressed in iOS 6.0.1. I have the best battery life  I have ever had on a 1 year old 4s. It came with 5.0 and went through the 5.0.1, 5.1,  5.1.1 and now 6.0 updates and 6.0 is the best its been with any of the other versions plus the battery is not 1 year old as well. I will say that I do not have the wifi and cellular data issues so that definitly could be the root cause.  Hopefully it will release soon and resolve this issue for those who are still having poor battery life even though it has not been a 'line item' fix mentioned in the rumors.

    I've also noticed fast drain on my iPhone, and been watching the internet with interest.

    However, has anyone else noticed that although the calculated figures (ie 100%) are draining fast, I'm noticing when my iPhone is indicating only 1% is left, I can get a good few hours use out of my phone - suggesting to me that the iPhone is in fact miscalculating the time left/percentage and that the chage is (possibly) the same usable duration as it always was?

    Yes I noticed that too.  My phone lasted about 2 hours for the last 2% or 3% - it was mostly standby but still I read a few web pages during that time.

    I have battery drain from 100% after charging to 80% during the night with no apps running. But more interesting is "Time since last full charge" - its always same, I mean usage=standby. Even if phone in stby. For example picture below - actually usage time around 1.5 hours. This starts after installing IOS 6.

    @Silver_horse

    I have the exact same problem, and have yet to find anything that is actually making the processor run all the time. I also have multiple CPU apps installed and when I run them it says my CPU is around 3% usage. Maybe look into one of the apps and see if you can locate the culprit. I am shocked at how good your battery is though. For me, my phone is dead after just 10 hours of usage (maybe 2 hours listening to music, 45 min using chrome, a few texts) and my usage stats would read something like 9 hrs 56 min usage, 10 hrs 15 min standby. Just food for thought since this won't be getting fixed anytime soon.

    Proved to myself once again that Safari is the primary culprit on my phone.  Launched it and CPU usage went up to 100% and stayed there.  Quite Safari and the usage stayed the same until I turned the phone off and back on again.  CPU now near 5% again.  Battery doing fine as long as Safari off and restricted.  Still have Mail and Contacts on Manual rather than Push.

    Why should Apple fix anything? We've all been trained to expect horrible battery life and to get used to leaving our phones charging most of the time. The battery life on the 4S has always been poor.

    I honestly believe they will release an update soon that will improve battery life.

    In the meantime, many people with android are used to turning off everything they don't use, dimming their screen, etc. to get better battery life.

    I'll admit with iOS this never used to be an issue, but the new features do seem to have a price.  Apple has called many people asking them to submit battery usage log files to help figure out how to give better battery life and I have no doubt, iOS 6 is due for better battery life.  I am disappointed in the time it is taking for an official response as well, but I found myself nitpicking for having battery life most android users are used to by now when they leave bluetooth on, wifi on, push synching on, etc.  Why do you think they have those NFC tags to tell their phone when to change profiles and turn those things on?  NFC is a big security risk, allowing a bad tag or command to tell your phone to install root malware even, but it wouldn't be a battery or convenience hack if having all those things on didn't drain battery I think.

    I think apple cornered themselves adding all those cloud features and giving all the old devices updates that may not have been optimized for old hardware, but I know they are working on refining this and really think they will make it right.  It's taking a lot of time for an official response or iOS update though I know.
