Which model and how much RAM does it have?
Extra RAM really helps, espically if you have upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
Plus it is also a big help to have plenty of free space on your Hard Drive.iMac, Mac Mini, iPad, iPods, Mac OS X (10.6.8), (10.8.2), Safari, iTunes, iPhoto
Thanks you for your reply. I have 3gb of ram 2 and 1 but could go to 2 and 2 making 4Gb on my Mac mini. How do you free up more space on the hard drive you cannot defrag like Windows can. I am running Lion.

You can try to use the Disk Utility(Applications> Utilities> Disk Utility) and Repair the Disk Permissions.
You can also download Onyx http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11582/onyx
To clean your computer, another thing you can try is to go to your System Preferences> Accounts and on your main account click on the tab that says login items, I always try to not have anything on there.

You could move your Photo Library and/or iTunes Media Folder to an External Hard Drive, but you should always backup those using a second External Drive.
