Delete the link and try the following:
- delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
- go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
- launch iWeb and try again.
Try the following:
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home()/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

For the most part, this solved my problem. What I did find was that I needed to try another external link first, then go back to the LinkedIn link, and it worked. The information you and Old Toad gave me was very helpful. Many thanks.

Old Toad, many thanks for all your help. Finally got this to work. I think that iWeb has some issues that would have been addressed had Apple decided to continue to invest in the product. By linking to another external link then going back to the desired LinkedIn external site, I was able to get this to work. Not sure why this worked when so many other attempts did not.
