As always, Apple has outdone themseleves with this product.  It's perfect for the Soccer Moms but it lacks the full body that excel has.  The real question is:

Are there anymore templetes out there?

    You could try here:  http://www.iworkcommunity.com/

Numbers will also open MS Excel templates (you may need to change the file extension to .xls or .xlsx for Numbers to recognize the file as one it can open, though.

Success also depends on what Excel features have been used in the template. Any not supported in Numbers won't survive the translation, of course.

There are a few Numbers & Pages template packages available in the Mac App Store, too. Also, try a Google search for "iWork Numbers templates" including the quotes.

There's also a Resources link on Apple's iWork page, which takes you to a page listing several types of resources for iWork, including commercial and community template sources. Click the link to get to the page.
