Hi,

What's the best way to connect a Macbook(2008) to a TV?

mini DVI to  HDMI?

mini DVI to VGA?

My TV has both...

How about the sound? Is it necessary to connect an extra cable from the computer to the TV, or the cables would do that?

Many Thanks

Daniel

HDMI is the best picture but it doesn't carry sound from a Macbook earlier than the Mid 2010 models and most TVs don't have separate RCA input plugs for audio with the HDMI inputs since they expect the sound to be carried by the HDMI plug. With HDMI you'll need to use external speakers or headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo sound system if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs for audio with the HDMI plug.

VGA for video with headphone jack to RCA sound plugs for audio isn't quite as sharp as HDMI but it works well.
