Q: I'm having USB port issues.

To Whom It May Concern:

I'm experiencing issue connecting my Ipod Shuffle dock to my new computer, which is Windows 7.   I've tried everything from sun up to sun down, does anyone out there knows how to resolve this issue?

Does the iPod Shuffle still charge when you have it connected to your PC?  Are you plugging it into high powered USB 2.0 port located directly on your PC?

Is iTunes up to date and are the connections on each end of the cable/dock nice and snug?

Does it still connect okay to another PC?

If the PC was made in the last 10 years or so, it's likely that the ports are 2.0 ports.  Just make sure it's a port located on the back of the PC and not through any sort of USB hub.

Then double check the connections on each end of the cable to make sure they are nice and snug.

If nothing else, see if the Shuffle connects okay with another PC or Mac running iTunes.

I'm still experiencing the same problem, even plugging it in the back of my computer.  I'm at my wits end, I haven't a clue what to do next  :'-(.

Does the iPod appear to charge when you have it connected to the PC?  Have you tried resetting the Shuffle with it still connected to the PC? See this article for instructions on resetting the Shuffle.

If you have an Apple store nearby, it might be worth it to schedule an appointment with them. It is free except for your time of course.

Well, it seems my Ipod works well on my sister's old laptop.   Maybe it isn't compatible w/Windows 7.  It would be nice if I could somehow be able to connect it here on my Windows 7, but I guess that's out the question, I've done everything you suggested and I'm still experiencing the same the problems.   Well, thanks anywhere, I guess I'll be bugging my sister for now on to charge my Ipod, until I can figure out a way to connect it to my Windows 7.   Thanks so much for your help.

It is.  Do you have the latest version of iTunes installed on this PC?  Is your PC a laptop or desktop?

Does the device appear to charge on your PC?  Did it ever work previously on this PC?

    Hey.
I have some similar problems. My 2nd g shuffle isn't recognized in my laptop, and i already plug my ipod in a high powered USB 2.0 port and still nothing. It starts with a orange light and then, puff the light disapear, go down and i receive a message from windows saying that the usb isn't recognized. Plus, i connect it to my smart tv and i can, at least, listen de files i have in my ipod. Finnaly when the shuffle is charged (not full) i can't use the all the buttons. Nothing happens and the lights still green when i push the buttons.
    Any help?!

Thank god I'm not the only one experience issues w/my Ipods.

As a matter of fact, I do have the latest Itunes on my Windows 7 desktop.   I'm still experiencing issues w/charging my Ipod.   Everytime I plug in my charge w/my Ipod, it tells me there's a malfunction w/my USB port, which I check I don't see how.

For now I'll continue using my sister's laptop, which is a Windows XP version.
