The gray motif was added a few revisions back. You must have skipped over a few updates. This is by design.
All sharing is now via a Share command. Right-click an image and select Share->Email. You need to setup the email share in Preferences first. I've heard of issues getting Outlook to work but that was with older versions of Aperture.
I right-click on the picture etc. but on the bottom Aperture banner it start with exporting... then nothing happen.
It is very strange because I have sent a lot of pictures with Aperure without any problems and now it is not working anymore.
It is als a shame that I have paid for a software and I have to use Picasa to send the pictures.
Note, I am using Aperture for business and not for pleasure.
There are other ways to get an Aperture image to an email. Not as convenient but doable.
a) Open a new email message with Outlook. Drag and drop your images from the Aperture window to your email message.
b) Open a new email message with Outlook. Click the insert button for the message and in the resulting dialog left hand side scroll down to the Media section and choose Photos. In the top right hand section select Aperture and your photos will be selectable in the list below it. If your library is large it might take a few moments for Aperture's photos to appear.
One caveat is the Aperture preview image will be used who's size is controlled in the Aperture Preferences.
thank you. Your suggestions are ok and it work. For sure it is a solution.
The only problem is that if I am able to send the pictures from Aperture the pictures size on Outlook will be ok, if I drop the picture from the two windows the size from Aperure rimane unchanged and the pictures are too big for Outlook.
I try to re-download Aperture, but it is impossible.
I have downloaded the update from Apple Store and when I try to transfer it into the Application I have this alert "The version of Aperture installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available".
I don't know why is impossible to re-download the program again...
Thank you and regards,
Like Leonie says above, it's a bug related to Outlook so I don't think redownloading Aperture will fix anything. I don't use Outlook so I can't do any troubleshooting on my end.
If you really want to re-download Aperture you need to delete it from the Application folder. Open the Mac App Store and click on the Purchased icon at the top to see all your Mac App Store apps. The status for Aperture should change to "Install". Clicking this will download the app and install it.
Thank you Thomas.
If I delete Aperture and re-download it, will I have the same folders, albums, etc. as before or there is the risk that everything will be mixed?
Sorry for the above question, but the risk is too high and I want to be sure about it.
Downloading and installing Aperture again will not change the organisation of your Aperture library.
So your projects and albums should stay the same. But anyway, it would be a good idea to check if your backup of your Aperture library is current and working.
Maasimo, the only way to get colored icons again is to patch the Aperture application - replace every tiff-file inside the package by a colored icon. You could retrieve them from the Aperture Trial package by opening the ressources folder inside. I cannort really recommend this; it is risky and you will have to do it over and over again, see:
How to bring back the color: (for experienced users only)
Re: Have today loaded the 3.3 up date on Aperture. After the up date the colour of the Menu Bar and all icons showing projects / albums etc are now grey. Any thoughts on how to reestablish the colours.
