I am planning on getting one of the new 27in. iMac's when they come out in December for many reasons, but one of those reasons is to have more power and screen size to process my photographs. Until then, I would like to know if anyone has a Macbook Pro 13in. with the 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo that is running the Aperture program and what it's performance is. I just purchased and installed 8gb of memory in my Macbook Pro with these specs and am contemplating purchasing Aperture now and running it on this laptop, until the new iMacs come out. Thoughts?

When you buy Aperture from the App Store you can install it on all the Apple systems you own so if you buy it now you will be able to install it on the iMac when you get it for no additional charge.

This will give you two months or so to get use to the program, play around with it and learn it. Aperture is a great program but does require some time to get up to speed on it. Even if the performance isn;t great on your current set up (and I have no direct knowledge of this one way or the other) the time you spend with Aperture now will not go to waste..

Get it now -- as Frank says, it takes a while to learn to use it, and even longer to use it well.

Performance shouldn't be an issue..  I upgraded from a 13" 2.26 GHz machine w. 8 GB RAM -- ran Aperture all day long.  (The retina display and the SSD drove me to upgrade.)
