Q: personal hot spot not working iphone 5

We already did.  The rest is up to you.

Then go to Settings > Personal Hotspot

Turn it on and note the password for users to connect.

This is not entirely true, I went to my service provider today and they said that its "almost 90% sure" its a hardware issue on iPhone 5. I used hotspot on the same account perfectly with iPhone 4 - not working since I upgraded to iPhone 5, and perhaps even iOS6....

Are you using USB, wi-fi or Bluetooth for Personal Hotspot?

wi-fi and/or bluetooth. I just did a hardboot, hotspot option was off, turned it on - seconds later the now famous notifcation ops up to contact my service provider (who earlier insists it may be a h/w problem which I am hoping its not)

Have you reset network settings? Who is your carrier?

not sure how to reset network settings but the carrier is T-mobile in Hungary (listed on the KE article as supporting hotspot)

Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings.

AT&T has been giving me the run around for a few days now.  My feature disappeared a few days ago.  Restart device, reset network and a factory restore have been unsuccessful.

I'm guessing this is a carrier/ios6 issue.  Hopefully they figure it out soon.

This is definitely an iOS 6 issue. Personal hotspot worked perfectly on my iPhone 5 over wifi with AT&T until this morning, right after updating to iOS 6.02

I totally agree, this problem only appeared after i updated to iOS 6.

Go to settings > general > cellular > cellular data network > fill up all the APN area

Then try agen it's work with me

U can ask ur network provider for that information
