Q: iPhone 5 can't send SMS - gets an error when sending SMS

People - I'm using a Sprint iPhone 5 with my local GSM chip. Everything works fine, except sending SMS.

All basic troubleshooting has been done: checked SMS settings, erased Network Settings, checked SMS Service # through *#5005*7672# and it is fine, restored the phone and re-checked everything above again... and nothing. :-(

Please help?

Hi Roman, is it mean we can use sprint to activate iPhone, then replace our local carrier sim, SMS can work?

Hi everyone, does anybody use this way and successfully solve the problem?

    hi LL_Ditto

the above procedure is a standar procedure that the apple executives will ask you to do as test.

they asked me to do that as well, however it didnt work for me!

also please note that not everyone brought the phone directly from apple, so most people dont event have their sprint micro sim card, so please dont sweat if it doenst work.

inspite having a sprint sim the above procedure didnt work for me, and also as per that post if you dont have a sprint sim you have to wait till you get back to the US.

that is not true as well, coz a lot of people on this forum had this problem resolved without even having a sim, it was all done by apple.

wait for apple to contact you. you may take a chance by erasing your data (after taking a back up ofcourse) and doing a restore, who knows it may work

even if it doenst, if you wrote to thr right people then apple will contact you!

    Thx Avi

This is the 5th days since my first time send Apple email following all of your instructions, but still no one contact me....

Maybe still can wait, the only way I can do.

Anyone tried to delete the "Subject line"?  I had a problem in that I could receive messages, but could not send them. An Apple guy said he had the same problem and deleting the subject line corrected it.  I did the same thing and I have had a bit of trouble since.  I think the delete function is under Preferences/Messages.

    Hi friends,

I used to have same trouble in TURKEY.

Yesterday I sent a detailed e-mail including buying price, IMED number etc. after reading posts here.

I have recieved a reply today.

Generally in the mail they say back-up your phone delete all data-settings and restore.

When restore process is finished I tried to send SMS.

Surprise! I have a technology found in 90's in my iphone 5

    Now I can sen SMS's

Thanks everybody. These posts saved the day!
