Q: iPhone 5 can't send SMS - gets an error when sending SMS

People - I'm using a Sprint iPhone 5 with my local GSM chip. Everything works fine, except sending SMS.

All basic troubleshooting has been done: checked SMS settings, erased Network Settings, checked SMS Service # through *#5005*7672# and it is fine, restored the phone and re-checked everything above again... and nothing. :-(

Please help?

iPhone 5, iOS 6, Sprint model (A1429), GSM Network

Seems more and more ppl here can solve the problem these days.

    SO DO I!!!

Same as other success cases, receive the notification mail from apple and then restore it using iTune, then SMS work after re-activate.

Thx Avi, thx Roman. Thx all here the instruction and the encouragement.

Others, who still not being solved, PLS DO follow the instruction fro Roman, keep sending emails to Apple till you get a manually follow ups (either calls or reply emails), and this is the only way we can fix this problem now.

p.s Heard that coming 6.1 can fix this problem as well, just heard...

    Hey aranchakataria

Buddy the process flow is mentioned several times on this forum,

The only two things that you need to do and have is, follow the process and have lots of patience. I believe roman has once again put the process flow, please follow it and your home

    All the best buddy!

    I'm glad I could help

Soon nobody will have this problem!

Just one more reference, here is my post with instructions to email.

And here is the Apple Knowledge Base article that says it should be solved for anyone with a simple restore.

    Hi juanmapat,

I'd say to first try the apple steps, and if that doesn't work, then try to send them the email.

I emailed the support@apple.com with all the information here provided, my imei, meid, serial number, attached the receipt,  the price i paid, using it overseas etc and nothing. I tried several times since last week and all i got was the standard donotreply email....

I contacted the support by phone and all they did was keep repeating the same steps that are on the troubleshoot, restore, reset the network settings, change the sim back to the sprint's activate and chagne back to your sim, etc etc etc, i told then i tried all of it several times and them they said that i should repair my iphone 5.

I'm VERY disappointed, the support just did the job of the troubleshoot area of the Apple site, after i told then about this thread they said there's nothing they could do, as i said the forbidden word "unlocked" they said they couldn't do it. I called them 3 times, 1 hour of pure stress.

I guess i'll have to wait the 6.1 update...
