Hi there,

when I plug in the iPad and trigger the icloud backup manually, it always says at the end that the backup could not complete because of an error. This has always been the case and it is not getting better with 5.01 beta.

Any hints?

Best

Udo

I have the exact same problem.  I was hoping the beta would fix that.

I found a solution by deleting an application du to the big size 2.1 Go.

I'm unable to backup to iCloud from iPhone 4 and iPad while connected to wireless network at home.  This is a new problem over the past two weeks. Each time it states backup failed.  Any ideas?

It looks like you need to install iOS 6.0.1 that was released yesterday.  You can find more information here: http://lighthousetechnologies.com/blog/software-testing-iphone-5-bug-upgrade

I have the same problem and I have updated ios6. The issue is if you are a Comcast customer and have a Arris TG862 cable modem, the firmware is the issue. I read on the DOCSIS list that they are working to remedy it, or you can bug Comcast for a new modem.

If you get the error "Backup not successful" and you've tried deleting the last backup and trying to back up manually without luck, try the following test:   Go to...

Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options.  Turn off all apps from backup and then do a manual backup.  If that doesn't work, then this post will not help.  If the backup works, then go back to the app list and turn some on and try another backup.  If successful, keep repeating these steps.  If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail.  (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)

This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one.

Thanks for this tip. I was connected to itunes, and trying to backup to my computer and it switched back to icloud when I hit sync so I was going to let it ride then switch to computer after. It got stuck and wasn't responding. I terminated itunes to reboot computer and tried iCloud over wifi and kept getting a failure to backup.

I knew there was an app that was huge. Whether that was the culprit or not I do not know but I went into manual storage options, deleted an ancient iPad 1 backup no longer needed, selected that huge game and turned it off, and BAM iCloud backup successful in like 2 minutes time.

    Thank you!
