I'm having trouble importing some Panasonic P2 material to FCP 7... hope someone can help me troubleshoot this!

The key points:

• I'm trying to import from a hard drive to which a client has copied the card contents - as far as I can see there's nothing missing. (ie. folders called

all within the folder, not just a few .MXF files)

• When I try to add a folder, I get the error:

Warning

"ITW D SCI" contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media."

• I think I've imported P2 content before, successfully, with Log & Transfer, but it's possible that it was shot on a Sony... memory a bit vague on that.

I can supply any more details you like, but waddaya think?

You need to use Log and Transfer...and you choose the TOP level folder.  The one that contains the CONTENTS and LASTCLIP.TXT file.  Don't go digging into the Contents folder to add those to the L&T window.  Choose the root folder.

    This is the workflow:

Does the main folder have odd characters in the name, like !@#$%^&*()-/ ?

    AHA!!

It's wrong.  It's all wrong.  All those folders need to be inside a folder called CONTENTS.  So you have the main folder...then in there a CONTENTS folder and the LASTCLIP.TXT file.  Inside CONTENTS (all caps, exactly as I have it), go all those subfolders.

    Someone offloaded it wrong.

NO worries.  Now tell whoever offloaded those file that they did it VERY VERY wrong, and send them the link to my tutorial.

THey need to offload everything on the card EXACTLY how it appears on that card.  They cannot cherry-pick.
