Q: My power cord/adapter does not light up when plugged into the computer.  Does that mean it's damaged or destroyed?

My power cord/adapter does not seem to be working at all.  The battery indicator in the menu bar shows the notebook is plugged in, but it is not charging.  The green indicator light on the part that plugs into the mag port is not lit up.  Does this mean my power cord is damaged or destroyed?  This just started yesterday, after about 8 months of use.

If under warranty, use it. Causes may vary, from battery (including its controller chip) to motherboard. A banal contact may affect good behavior.

The simplest test is with another charger and/or another battery, if behavior is the same, the problem may be deeper.
