I cannot update iPhoto on my wife's iMac.  I just keep getting the message in the dialog box shown below.  I tried moving iphoto.app to the trash and performing the update, but that did not work.  I also tried logging out of the store, and back in, rebooting the iMac, but that did not help either.

Is anyone aware of how to correct this problem?

The message says to choose "software update" from the Apple menu to do this update? what ahppened when you did that?

I  tried moving iphoto.app to the trash and performing the update, but that did not work.

If you have trashed the application then you have nothing to update - you will have to reinstall the original application and then update

The message says that your wife already has 9.4.2 on her Mac.  What version is the app that you put in the Trash.  Move it out to the Desktop back to the Applications folder and check it's version.

Depending on where her iPhoto 9.4 came from originally, you might try applying this updater: iPhoto 9.4.2

Well, I have the same problem. The way it works for me, is:

1.)     Open appstore and try to update your iPhoto

2.)     When it prompts with a message "xxx go to app store etc, etc"

3.)     Leave Appstore open as it is, i.e. open

4.)     Drag the iPhoto app to trash can and enter the code when prompted. Leave iPhoto there in the trash can.

(Don't empty the trash can, leave iPhoto in it)

5.)     Now try to update iPhoto again in appstore, for me it works, and takes 1 minute or two

6.)     Once finnished, go to trashcan and restore iPhoto. It is now updated.

I don't lknow how it works, and I find it not logical, I don't like it - but for me it works.

    Best regards!

Try deleting the receipts and then go back to the App Store and try again:  all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,

Then try the App Store again.
