Q: I cannot put my iPod into disk mode.  I have followed all of the steps and still getting the X.

I dropped my iPod over the weekend and it stopped working (nothing looks broken).  I tried to reset it and got the red X.  I went online and followed the directions for putting it into disk mode.  It won't go into disk mode, just keep getting the red X.  What do I do now?

If you are unable to get the iPod into Disk Mode to restore it and instead get the red X symbol, it's a very good indication of a damaged hard drive inside of your iPod. This means you'll need to take or send your iPod in for repair or replacement.
