When viewing the capacity section in iTunes, displaying my iPhone's usage, I noticed something interesting: It appears that music that is downloaded as part of listening to it is grouped in the yellow 'other' category (perhaps that cache file I've read about), and music I've manually downloaded from iTM show up in blue as 'Audio'.

Based on that I have a question: Does iOS6's iTM automatic space management  apply to all music on the phone, or does it exclude music manually downloaded?

An interesting question. I know if iOS 5, downloaded songs that had not been listened to "recently" could be removed by the Music app to make room for new, downloaded music. Since the default behavior has been changed in iOS 6 to mainly streaming I would hazard a guess that this behavior is still there. I would make sense.
