I am using iDVD version 7.1.2.  My Mac is OS X Lion Version 10.7.5.

Initially the DVD's would burn from iMovie with no problems at all.  Now iDVD is going through all of the processes to burn the DVD, but the DVD ejects, yet the message states, "Time remaining about 1 minute."   I play the DVD but it only plays part of the movie or now at all and I can hear th hard drive working away and struggling.  Inserting the DVD again does not help.  I have tried burning with 5 small movies down to one movie, but I always get the same result.  The max movie file is only 1.2GB.  The DVDs are TDK 4.7GB capacity.  I have wasted about 10 disks.

Does anyone have a suggestion.  Thanks.

Please - DO not spoil any DVD disks by doing like this instead.

    • in iDVD - when all looks OK

    - Save as a DiskImage

    - open this and test it with DVD-player tool

Burn this image - by using Disk Util tool

I secure from start - IMPORTANT

    • a minimum of 25Gb free space on the Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard Disk - must be here - other hard disks of NO interest as this space can not be addressed elswhere

    • I use only Verbatim

    • I use DVD-R

    • I set down burn speed to x4 or less

This way usually works for me and I've lost very few DVDs

Were you able to create a disk image of your project as Bengt suggested?  If so and it played satisfactory with DVD Player then the problem lies with the burn process.

If you were unable tio create a disk image then the problem lies in the encoding process and could be due to any number of issues.  Can you elaborate on what you experienced when saving as a disk image?

Did you mount or open the disk image before launching DVD Player?
