Hi,

Having an issue with a few mp4 videos on my iPod nano (newest edition).

I start the video, everything is fine until about 5min, when suddenly the video "runs ahead fast" with high speed, whereas the audio continues as it should. When the video part has reached the end, it stops with the last image, but the audio part continues as it should.

This has now happened with 2 or 3 mp4 videos, other videos are ok.

These same weird videos run ok on my iPad 2.

I have done a reset on the iPod nano, to no avail.

Any ideas?

with best regards,

Omar KN

Have you tried removing and resyncing the problem videos from and to your Nano via iTunes?

Are these videos from the iTunes Store or were they imported from outside of iTunes?

I know these files play okay on your other iDevices, but try using iTunes built in converter to reconvert the movie into an iPod optimized format. To do this, highlight each video or videos and choose Advanced -> Create iPod or iPhone version.

When the file or files have finished converting, sync the new versions over to the Nano to see if that makes any difference.

    Hi there
I had the exact same problem.

    a) I made a video using FCP X.

    b) I exported the .MOV at full quality (HD)

    c) I used QuickTime to convert to an iPod movie

    d) Synced to the Nano.

All worked perfectly, until one day:

    e) the movie now runs at approximately 2-3x faster

What I did to solve the problem:

    1. Restored the factory defaults on the iPod

    Result: no change

    2. Reset the iPod (just re-started it).

    Result: no change

3.a) Removed the video, closed iTunes, ejected the iPod, logged out.

    b) Logged in, plugged in the iPod, tried to put the video on the iPod again.

    Result: no change

    4. Factory restore of the iPod plus re-syncing the content.

Result: 40 minutes of downloading and putting the content back on the iPod and no change.

    5. Follow the GENIUS advice of planb77 from Easter Island ( ! )

    a) re-convert the file to iPod version (I didn't even realise iTunes did that!)

    b) Put the file on the Nano

    Result: IT WORKS!

    Thanks so much!

I am using iTunes to re-convert it and see if that works.

On Easter Island they really know a few things!

However I'm still observing this issue on my iPod, as the other day "it" happened again (i.e. fast forward). More when clearer,-

Hmmm.  Does this only happen with certain videos or all of them?
