Q: AirPort Connection Timeout - Tried everything!

This laptop (PowerBook G4 Ti 867MHz) cannot connect to the internet. It worked before we bought ourselves a new router.

It is NOT the router because a similar laptop (PowerBook G4 Al 1.5/1.67) connects flawlessly.

The Ti laptops are known to have poor AirPort reception becuase of their bodies, but even when the laptop is sitting at the desk with the router, it still cannot connect.

Tried the following:

Connecting via Ethernet - connected fine, still no AP

Trashing plist files: com.apple.internetconfig.plist, com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist, com.apple.internetconnect.plist - no success

Reset PRAM, held down keys till third chime - no success

Pushed internal reset button

New location - no success

Trashing com.apple.alf.plist - no success

Trashed AirPort passwords in keychain - no success

Deleted preferred AP networks - no success

Router is a Netgear N600.

Verizon DSL service is being used.

Is it the AP card? (Took a 550MHz TiBook apart before, AP card was directly underneath the bottom cover. Same case for 867MHz?)

(Would rather not) Is it easier to buy a USB dongle? Will the included software bypass the AP card?

Can I plug a wireless PC-card into the slot? Will it work? (The PC-card is also Netgear)

PowerBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8), G4 Titanium, 867MHz, 1 GB RAM

My wife's Mac Book Pro is having an issue with our Netgear N600 router after an operating system upgrade last Friday, 9/28. It works with any other router and all other computers, Windows 7 and iPhone work just fine with the router.

We had to set the security to WPA2 Personal when she upgraded the computer to Mountain Lion over the summer. We have the same security and the same router configuration as before.

We are connecting to Comcast through a Motorola SB6121 moderm. No issues to be found on the forums with the current firmware version, SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.6-SCM00-NOSH.

Any suggestions? I have found nothing in the communities.

I found another discussion about changing channels to resolve connection issues. Changed both channel numbers and voila! The Mac immediately connected!

What do I change the channel numbers on? Computer? Router? Both? (Sorry I have not been back in a while!)

You change the channel number on your router.

Here's some suggestions for wifi on iPads. Some may be applicable to your PB.

    Cheers, Tom
