Apple does not publish the answer to your question, however you 2011 iMac will easily support 32GB of RAM. You can trust OWC they specialize in Macs, provide high quality products, test everything they sell and finally provide excellent service. You can call or do an online chat with them if you have additional questions. They can be reached through their Tech Support link.

I found the OWC memory to be expensive.

I found newegg to be much cheaper and they have a Kingston 8GB module with ELPIDA RAM which is the best in terms of quality.

    Hi rkaufmann87

I have read some messages from you on extending iMac RAM.

I have an iMac, mid 2011 model, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz.

I use little works i Movie program, and so far goes perfectly.

I have decided to expand the memory up to 16 GB of RAM, which is what I had read at most limit on this computer.

So far,  I've read a message from you that says there possibility to extend, in particular, my model to 32 GB of RAM.

I wanted to ask you two questions:

You think I'm going to notice much difference in the video program with 16 GB of RAM?

It is 100% reliable expansion to 32 GB of RAM, with the reports I've seen, you said in a message from you? It would make much difference in performance when using Imovie respect to my actual 16GB RAM.

Now the current price has plummeted this memoir, was around $ 230.

Best regards from Spain, and sorry if my English is not very correct.

Going forward it's best to begin your own thread. Adding to an answered thread is not recommended as they are not usually read.

Tough to say if you will notice any difference because I have no idea how much RAM your machine currently has or anything other than you use iMovie.

I have a mid 2011 iMac and extended the RAM to 24GB, it came with 8GB and I added an additional 16GB. I could replace my 8GB's (2 x 4GB DIMMS) and replace them with an additional set of 16GB DIMMS (2 x 8 GB).

If you need additional information please start your own thread, if I don't answer someone at least as knowledgeable as I will.

    Regards,
