Hello there.

Not so long ago I purchased an iMac (VERY annoyed when a few weeks later they anounce the new iMac...). It's system specs are:

  • Processor  3.4GHz Intel Core i7

  • Ram (Memory)  8GB

  • Graphics  AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB

  • Memory  1TB

It's also running on the latest OS X Mountain Lion. I have been considering for the last few day to but Windows 7 on the iMac using bootcamp, there's nothing wrong with OS X but there are some programs that I would like to use that aren’t available on the Mac. But before I just go ahead and put Windows 7 on my iMac I have a few questions.

  1. Will it degrade the performance of my iMac? Now this question has been asked quite a lot but what I mean is that will it put a lot of stress of the components and that when I come to removing Windows 7 the damage is done and the iMac become slower and not working at it's best.
  2. Will it make my iMac slower in general, so when using OS X will it become slower at all.

Thank you for reading my enquiries and I hope to hear some feedback.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
