Just recently I couldn't turn on my laptops wifi without my iPad 2s wifi going out....they were fighting for a wifi connection....I could only connect one wifi device at a time.

I disabled the QoS in my router and now I can connect multiple devices again, plus I'm looking forward to my iPad speed download boost.

It looks like my router was giving way too much priority to my VOIP and my other hard wired connection.

Just wanted to drop this note for anybody else who gets this problem.

I finally relented  and bought a brand new Linksys dual band Wireless N Router with QOS for $80 for the Ipad2.  I am greatful for this message board and the people that contributed to it and yes, it did fix it.  Ebay works great as does everything else.  Needless to say I have no faith in Apple, they are no better than windows when it comes to support or fixes to their OS.

Problem fixed. Reset all settings and contents of my iPad2. Then reinstall all the apps... Spend half day. Now wifi at home is higher than 30Mbps.

I disabled WMM in the qos tab in my router setup screen (linksys wrt120) and my download speed went from 1mb/sec to 15mb/sec. Still not blazing fast but fast enough so streaming video has no issues anymore!

I just disabled QoS on my Linksys E1500 router per CM2010s original post. Now neither my iPad nor iPhone can access my wifi network. Before disabling it, I had access. Any suggestions?h

A day after sending this post I found that by hitting "Renew Lease" for my wi-fi the router and wifi now work and the download speeds for my iPad are m.uch much  faster. Thank you CM2010! Problem solved.

    Hi Apple,

Can someone please tell me how to fix the 802.11 wireless problems we are having with the devices we purchased from Apple? Our children all love the devices Apple has created. We currently have and IPAD-2, Iphone-4, Iphone 4-s, an Iphone-5, and an Ipod 4th generation. We also have a few windows laptops as well accessing the internet.

our internet connection we use is a verizon MIFI 4510, and all the devices above access the 4G wireless internet.

After several months of trouble-shooting we discovered that whenever the IPOD joins the WIFI network it kills the connection for EVERYONE on the wireless network. I have tested this many times to confirm this.

Our normal download speeds are around 2 meg without the IPOD accessing the WIFI network. Can someone tell me when Apple will fix this or if  a new IOS load will fix this issue? I dont have QOS on the Verizon MIFI 4501 4G cellular device so when will Apple have a real fix for IPOD users that want to access the internet and not kill everyones internet connection?

    Thanks,

    Allan

I hate to give you this solution but the one thing that seems to fix it is buying an Apple Airport router. There are other varaious solutions in this thread when working with non-Apple routers too but they don't seem to work for everyone. The only constant I see is that the problem is with Apple but they are not admitting it.

First, you aren't speaking to Apple here. This is a user-to-user technical help forum. There are only other users here.

Second, asking your specific technical question on a long thread is not the best way to get a solution. It would be better to create a new thread specific to your problem.

Some clarifications: Do you mean that all your other Apple devices connect with the exception of the iPod touch 4G? Or that none of the Apple devices connect?  Also, what levels of iOS are you using on your Apple devices (latest is iOS 6.0.1).

I believe that there is a maximum limit of 5 devices simultaneously connected to the MiFi 4510. This might be part of your problem.

In any case, if attempting to connect a device to an access point like the MiFi 4510 causes all currently connected devices to lose their connection then this points to a bug in the MiFi 4510 firmware or a configuration problem. This should not happen period.

You might want to check with Verizon to see if there is a firmware update for the 4510.

I just bought Ipad 4th gen. It is soooooooooooo slooooooow when I am using wifi on it.I have a D-Link DIR 600 Firmware 2.5 version. I have unchecked the QoS on Advance Settings. But when i go to set up - wireless set up, i could see WMM checked. I couldn't figure out how to uncheck it. PLEASE HELP. I've tried unconfiguring and re configuring my router it still the same. But when i removed the password of my WIFI my Ipad worked a BIT better than previous. Then put on my wifi password again, its back to slooooooow speed

I also tried connecting at other wifi spot and it still works so slowww. I am thinking of updating the software to 6.0.1 . But i am afraid it might worsen it.

Finally an actual fix!! I was even going to have my router replace thinking that it was defective. I didn't even consider disabling wmm support before because I thought it would make things worse. I haven't even wanted to use my apple tv3 because it kept making my network crash. Thank you.
