    Adobe Reader.

Click on a PDF, change "Open with" from "Preview" to "Adobe Reader."

    Then select Change for All.

Glad this helped you, fmh . . .

It's very unusual that Preview should be slow, however,  That just doesn't sound right.  I "grew up" on Reader, and I love it.  I used to do some design stuff, and found it much superior to Preview.  However, a good friend recently taught me more about Preview, and it is better than I had always assumed.  Anyway, hope everything works our great for you!

It's not bad, it is moronic! You select a 100 pictures to open with preview, then you have to close each one individually. If you don't, the next time, and every time after that, you try to preview a jpeg or pdf, the said 100 pictures will open up even if you delete them or move them or do whatever. Until you close them one by one, you are stuck with seeing those 100 pictures for ever. I haven't come across any thing as moronic as that.

Thanks, A.J. However, my problem is that once I open a group of pictures, I cannot get rid of them from Preview until I close each one individually. Every time I open even a single picture or PDF after opening a group of pictures, the entire group opens first and then the picture I was trying to open. The tech support person at my work told me the only way to get rid of that group from Preview is to close them one at a time. That's why I said it is moronic. Once I use command Q to close preview, I should never see the group of pictures again until I open them.
