If your Mac came with Lion or Mountain Lion, press Command, Option and R keys on boot, open Disk Utility, erase the drive and install Mountain Lion or Lion.
If you've a Late 2010 MacBook Air, use the USB disk that came with the Mac to erase the drive and install Mac OS X. If you've got an older Mac, use the USB SuperDrive or Remote Disc > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2129

Nov 10, 2012 12:28 PM in response to mende1by sscearcy,I have mountain lion and that did not work. I try going to disk utility and when I click on the hard drive it wont allow me to do the erase option
