I have notes on my iMac and iPhone that are not synching to my iPad through iCloud.  The notes on the iPhone say they are in the account "from my iMac" but not in the iCloud account.  How do I get the notes to iCloud from the "on my Mac"?  I checked Notes and mail in the iCloud box in system preferences.

I have the same exact problem and posted about it.  I wish it would work.  :(

I have the same problem.  I have an iPhone 4S, an iMac, and an iPad2.  Notes, through iCloud, sync to the iMac, and to the iPhone, but I have no iCloud account in notes on my iPad.  Notes are set to sync On My iPad because there is no iCloud account for the Notes.  Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Safari, Notes are all toggled to ON in Settings:iCloud, and all sync through iCloud except Notes.  I've toggled Notes on and off, powered off and rebooted the iPad, and turned Notes on again under iCloud, but no change.  I am not able to create an iCloud account to set as default for Notes.  I don't use a me.com account, I use my apple login and everything works on the other devices ... actually there are 5 devices in the house that are linked to the same iCloud account and all sync except the one iPad Notes.  All settings on all devices appear to be the same.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Why wouldn't you simply cut each note out of the "from my iMac" account and paste it into iCloud?  Then simply shut down your "from my iMac" and never use it again.

I don't seem to have the option to create an iCloud account for Notes so that I can opt out of On My iPad acct and close the other.

    I have a better idea:

Why doesn't Apple fix their iCloud mechanism to sync Notes like it is SUPPOSED to do?  Contacts,  Calendar, and Photos sync across iPhone & iPad just fine -- why not Notes?  After all, there is switch setting in iCloud that enables such a sync.  And, yes, all my iDevices are under the same iCloud account.

This is an Apple problem that, in typical Apple fashion, Apple is loath to admit or fix.
