As far as I know, no.  Look around and everyone says no.  However, if you have an iPad, the purchases are automatically added to it as well.  On the iPad you can swipe the unwanted purchased app and a "hide" red button will appear (on the ipad only, not the iphone).  Hit hide and the app will go gray and will be "hidden" when you come back to the list.  It will then disappear off the iphone as well.

I'm not sure if the hide option is available on the iPhone but this article might help you locate it:

Most of the junk apps we are talking about are FREE apps. I don't see how they are relevant in Apple's accounting system.

If it not possible to delete them as they are connected to purchasing history, which as someone pointed out is a little wierd as a lot of them are free, maybe there could be an archive option so they don't show on your current list, though would still be available if wanted...this being unlikely.

you can archive them by sliding your finger to the left on the name of the app in purchase history.

That is not accurate. We are talking about the list of purchased apps in the App Store application. You cannot slide an app left.

I agree with people specifying this is primarily to get rid of FREE apps that are in your purchased list. I like that it keeps a history of apps I paid for, or apps that were temporarily free, but with apps that are just free all the time and are crappy, I don't like them in my purchase history and enjoy organizing it by leaving it ones I paid for, or ones I like in general and will download again in the future.

It's an easy process on my Android phone, where I press and hold on the item (or items) in my purchase list and choose to remove them (it even asks me if I am sure just in case). This is an easy solution Apple could include in the purchase history that would make it a lot nicer for people trying to clear crap from their list (like poor unfortunate souls who downloaded items like the fart button or beer chugging apps and deleted them moments later).

It's easy! Go to the library by clicking the library button on upper left (if device and itunes store buttons appear on the upper left, you are already on the itunes library) then tick down music button on upper left and click apps. right click on the app you want to delete!

gatchi,  Your instructions will remove the item from the library, but it does not remove them from the "Purchased List" that is available on the device direct from Apple using the App Store.  This is the list that under discussion.  This really is a problem and I currently only have a few apps downloaded.  With all of the possible options listed on this post there simply is no reason that Apple could not do this if they wanted.

Because this was the first post I found before finding an answer, I will post the answer I found.  I actually think this is a good comprimise.  To hide items from your purchased list, log into the itunes store from your computer (open itunes and click the itunes store icon)  Sign into your account and access the app store.  Click on the "purchased" link currently located in the lower right hand corner.  Locate the unwanted app and hover your mouse over the icon and an "X" will appear in the upper left hand corner.  Click the "X" to hide the app from all "purchased" lists.

This have been suggested many times before why dont you go through the whole thread before suggested the same thing the other dozen people ALREADY suggested before????

I am getting email notification on this thread in hope of someone come up with the real solution or finally Apple fixed it instead I am keep getting email notification by all these useless suggestions for the last year...  Let hope Apple will somehow fix it in the future and I will remove my notification from this thread since all I get is all these "GENIUS"  keep posting the same solution again and again. Good luck all.
