It will do as provided:
'The iPhone "......'s iPhone" is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iphone and sync with this iTunes library?' An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library.
Text messages are not in your iTunes library. This affects all iTunes content only.

Apps are iTunes content - music, tones, movies, tv shows, and 3rd party apps.
You can transfer your iTunes library from the computer that has been used to sync the iPhone to the computer you will be syncing the iPhone with now per the instructions included with this link which will avoid this.

I seem to have the same problem, caused by trying to Sync Books. If I erase my iTunes Library and Re-Sync, what happens to all my Apps??? Thanks.

is there any way to sync music from the computer to the phone w/out deleting apps on the phone?
