Apple sent me a new iPhone 5 which performs better over WiFi, but I still have issues with iTunes Match. Sometimes it's quick, sometimes it's not and it varies dramatically. I have noticed that on songs in my iTunes Match account that were not matched by Apple but had to be uploaded (LPs I've ripped, live recordings, or my own compositions) are VERY slow. It's as if there is less bandwidth allowed for songs that are not in the iTunes Store.

I also have this problem and called apple support who told me to change the wireless band on my router from 2.4Ghz to 5. This does seem to have helped a lot, though it hasn't completely sorted the problem...

I've tried that. I even tried another router without encryption. It's spotty at best. It can start fast and slow dramatically. Apple sent me a new iPhone 5 which starts out better, but still slows to a crawl eventually. I think it's an iOS 6 issue.

I am having the same problem, restored many times and tested wifi at several locations. Still dog slow and driving me nuts.

Same problem for me. Everything else on my Iphone 5 is fast but downloading from my Itunes Match library is quite impossible. What is happening to Apple?

Ditto. I've called Apple support a couple of times, so far no solution except offer a refund on the matching service.

Disappointment over disappointement from Apple lately.

iTunes Match is impossibly slow to use even on the latest iOS of 6.0.2. Last night I had 454 songs downloading. The first two were "preparing to download". I wake up this morning and I still have a 453 songs waiting to download. This is after phoning Apple support and checking my WiFi settings.
I have now turned iTunes Match off on my iPhone 5 because it is slow to the point of being unusable.

I have the same problem. Only the combination of iPhone 5 and Wi-Fi and iTunes Match (or YouTube) has the issue. My iPad 3 (iOS 6) has no such problem.

same here - it's just insanely slow. i'm on a 5ghz connection to blazing fast broadband and it tells me right now it's going to take 133 minutes to download a 144mb mix.
really? come on... oh good, now the estimate is 347 minutes. give me a break.
sometimes it will just stall completely so i hard reboot the phone and that can help. not always but sometimes.. pretty shocking how horrible itunes match is after being out for more than a year. disappointing because in THEORY it's a great product.

I finally got someone at Apple that told me that any music that is NOT being sold in the iTunes Store has to be uploaded first, then downloaded to your phone. The net result is very slow downloads for non-iTunes music viaiTunes Match.
So, if you have old LP rips that aren't in the iTunes Store, or you're a musician like me that has your own music in your library, expect slow downloads at your iTunes Match clients. It sounds like that music is stored in a different place on Apple's servers and it has to go through 2 hops to get to you.

I have countless albums that are in fact available in the itunes store and they are still intollerably slow to download, even over a decent wifi connection at 50mb/s max ... my internet is just fine and I'm still having issues with receiving my content from apple's servers. I personally don't think it's an "it's not availble in our archive there for it's not as accesable/fast to retreive" issue.. it's that their server is pathically slow and probaly overloaded with people that paid 25 bucks to store their library in the cloud and are now spending way too long trouble shooting multiple issues. I for one am taking the upgraded "matched" files and walking. this is the most dissapointing service/product they've come up with.
I spent more time then I'd like to admit manually converting tracks (quite a few that should have matched, some not) in order to even upload compressed AAC 256 content, then tricking itunes into replacing said uploads with my higher quality files locally.. everythiing works well on my desktop and I can delete and redownload my content at the compressed quality and even upgrade certain things, but the service on my mobile devices are thus far usless... lame.

hoorahhh....finally found a resolution to this.
just play all the music present in your iphone and as you listen to each of these songs, they ll get downloaded too.
i did that. i put my phone on low volume and played all the 3000+ songs and at the end all the songs were downloaded on my phone.
i had been trying to download all of them for the last 6 days and by doing above, it took lesser time.
