I don't see how regular MP3 songs will not sync... How do you add songs to your iPod? Do you do it manually by dragging songs to the iPod in iTunes? Or do you set up the iPod's Music tab (in iTunes) and sync automatically?
Also, can you do a Get Info (from a right-click) on one of the songs with this problem? On the Summary tab of the Info window, what does it say for Kind, Format, and Bit Rate?

Thanx, the nano is set up to automatically sync w iTunes. MPEG audio files @ 256 kbits/sec. Format: MPEG-1 layer 3. I have the latest version of iTunes and the latest version software for the nano too.

There is no reason those songs should not sync, since there is nothing unusual about that MP3 format. In iTunes, you can play those songs, correct? And they appear in iTunes under the expected artist name and album name?
When you sync automatically, what is being synced by iTunes is based on how you set up the iPod's Music tab in iTunes. Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. Over to me right, go to the Music tab.
How is the Music tab currently set up? If your iTunes music library is small and it fits on your 8 or 16 GB nano, you may have it set to sync your Entire music library. Then, any change to your music library (including adding those Amazon downloads) should sync to your iPod automatically.
Otherwise (if your iTunes music library is larger), you need to set up the syncing based on selected playlistts, artists, albums, and/or genres. Are those new Amazon downloads included in what iTunes syncs to your iPod, based on how the Music tab is set up?

What is the "music tab"? I just don't see it? (I have nano 2g. Does that matter?)

In iTunes, select your iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. Look over to the right, toward the top of the iTunes window. There is a "bar" with "tabs" that goes across the screen, that starts with Summary. The second tab is Music. Click on Music to set up how iTunes automatically syncs songs to your iPod. The other tabs are for setting up syncing for other iTunes media categories, such as Movies and Podcasts.
