Q: iPhone 5 can't send SMS - gets an error when sending SMS

I thought I would share, I was recently contacted by AppleCare and had the issue resolved on all 7 Sprint iPhones. The problem is the settings on Apple database and all they have to do is adjust the settings. However, you need to wait until you are contacted, in my case via email, and provide them with IMEI(s). I was like all of you, and lost hopes. All of the sudden, got an email from AppleCare. Please be patient, Apple is taking care of us. There are a lot of Sprint iPhones out there that have the issue...so the process can be a bit slow.

hi thetuk! what did you do for them to contact you by email? who did you email? and how long did you wait?

I tried emailing support@apple.com, but all I got was an auto-reply email. The best way to contact Apple is using www.apple.com/support/contact. The advisor helped me and now I can send SMS!  The advisor told me that nobody monitors support@apple.com... it's just for redirecting people to the proper support channels. Don't bother sending emails there if you actually want to get helped.

Contact Apple using www.apple.com/support/contact if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page.

Just now I contacted apple care through online & get support from them. They told me to contact my regions apple care team to resolve the SMS Problem.

From there you can find the contact list of world wide apple support teams. Click the link below to get suports from them.

Has anyone bought Varizon or At&t ihpone 5? I am about to get one for my mother and send it to Russia. Everyone seems to have troubles sending sms with Sprint iphone 5. What about at&t? Verizon?

Go ahead, there're no any issues with the best two Verizon & At&t

so send it with confidence, don't worry about them, they send sms without any problems even if you unlock at&t with unlock service, xause Verizon iphones already coming factory GSM unlocked.

so as far as i understand at&t sells A1428 while Verizon, just like Sprint, sells A1429! so if the models for Sprint and Verizon are the same, i assume they might have same issues??

No, of course this A1428 it's belong to at&t LTE bands, so I don't know you're in which country, and your service provider which LTE band use.

so from a long time sprint & verizon they use WCDMA, for that's way they made iPhones compatible with them LTE bands.

no it doesnt have a sprint because it is unlocked already. everything works fine with my iphone 5 but i cant send sms. apple still not replying on my emails.

Apparently one reason you cant send texts is because your Service Centre number is wrong.

Go to your phone number pad and type

*#5005*7672# and press the call button

a number should come up on your screen, make a note of the number then do a web search for their correct SMS Service Center (depending on carrier) below are the UK O2 ones.

Message service centre settings

• +447802000332 for Pay Monthly, or
• +447802092035 for Pay & Go

Go to your phone number pad and type

**5005*7672*the correct number# and press the call button

Should be fixed if it's this problem (there do seem to be few around this issue).
