It should take you 10 seconds to open an account on your computer.

You can delete it after testing - it's as easy as creating it.

You just have to add a new account in

    1. Preferences/Users & Groups/

    2. Press +

    3. Select Administrator in Acc drop down menu. ( you don't need to reinstall all apps again.)

    4. Fill in fields or password and user name.

    Log out.

    Login to new acc.

i had a similar problem. Try to reset the quicklook framework by using this terminal command:

    qlmanage -r

    Hope this works for you.

Hi, I'm sorry for the late reply. I put this issue behind until today I encountered it again.

I've taken your advice, create a new admin account, log out the current account, log in the new account, find a audio file which I'm pretty sure to have album art embeded, double click to open, read iTunes agreement and go back to Finder. Yes, great it worked! The dumb ordinary music file icons are replaced by the embeded album art and quick look shows album art too. However, after switching back to my original admin account, everything is broken as before.

My application data, personal files are all stored under my original admin account. So it's to hard to make up my mind to start over from a new admin account. Maybe someday I go by the Apple Store, I'll let the geniuses check this issue out.

    Thank you all the same!

Oh glad you tried it and it worked.

You are already sharing the apps even if you delete the first admin acc (however check with a genius to make sure about settings) But make sure you move your iPhoto library, and document files.

I tried 2 times to talk to genius staff and escalated to senior engineer through AppleCare support. Seems like its deliberate the system is written this way as the finder reads the iTunes library files.

Hope that helps and hope you can switch over without losing data or album art.

Good news: I found an easy solution.

Start iTunes, remove all your voice memos from your library (back them up if you need them), quit iTunes. Restart Finder. Done. I hope that helps!

By the way, do not make an alias of the Itunes Library that is in your external and place it on your local drive. I once forgot to plu in the drive when I opened iTunes, and it screwed up all my tunes, and also some of its' recent data. Disappearing songs in playlists, and changed information on tracks that went back to the previous data. Scary stuff, so the person recommending this before is doesn't work properly and safely.

Voice Memos have the genre of the same name, search for the genre in the iTunes search bar.

Thanks but I don't have any voice memos.

Do you know if the cover art issue only happened after voice memos were added in your itunes?

Not sure it just happened, by moving my voice memo's it complety solved the issue. I have all my artwork and preview icons back within the finder window.

This worked for me! Also, all I had to do was move my Voice Memos folder, from the iTunes source folder under Music, to my desktop.  After that, iTunes couldn't locate them anymore and I deleted the useless aliases out of the iTunes app. Then I restarted finder, and the icons on my desktop returned to normal.  best part was that I didn't have to delete any of my memos, and was able to move them back into iTunes without the icons breaking again. Seriously, thanks Simon UK.
