I have iMovie 09 and I'm trying to put together a slide show with transitions and ken burns effects.  I'd like to have the highest video quality output but have not been able to find a 1080p export option for iMovie09.  Is 1080p actually an option in iMovie09 or do I need a newer version?  Is there a better option for making a slide show with transition and ken burns effects?  One thing I'm not happy about in 09 is the ken burns effect only goes up to 10 seconds and I have some panoramas I'd like to pan longer.  Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.  I'm running osx 10.8.2 on an older 09 imac.

Take a look at Fotomagico.  You can get a free trial license.

    Good luck,

If your source material supports 1080P, then you can Share from iMovie in 1080P. For movies, you can tell if the dimensions are 1920x1080, 1280x720, 640x480 etc.

For photos, 1080P is a little over 2 megapixels, so anythin over that should allow 1080P.

It has been a couple of years since I have used iMovie 09. I can't remember if there was a 1080P preset, or if I had to do it through the SHARE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME option.

Are you talking about exporting using the export option or using the share Media Browser option?  The one thing I'm really wondering is if you share to iDVD what format does it use when it shares?  Does it use the best possible resolution or ?
