Because of the horrible battery life with Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
I am unaware of any battery life problem with Mountain Lion. There are many problems with incompatible 3rd party software, but that is a different problem.
I wrote a little diagnostic program to help show what might be causing these problems. Download EtreCheck from http://www.etresoft.com/download/EtreCheck.zip, run it, and paste the results here.
Will the ML Time Machine be backwards compatiable with Lion?
No. 3rd party application may be fine. Most Apple applications and data will not work.
Disclaimer: Although EtreCheck is free, there are other links on my site that could give me some form of compensation, financial or otherwise.
Thanks for your answer.
You may be unaware of any battery problems with Montain Lion, but I am, and google certainly is:
189 pages on a support thread may not be enough evidence for you, but it is for me.
You are probably right about ML backups not being compatible with Lion, but I would like to hear from other people if possible, maybe someone who has tried it before.
Does anyone else have some insight? Thanks.
Thank you for your opinion, but I do believe if 189 pages worth of people are willing to go online and request support, then there is certainly evidence of an issue. Also, your reply increased my thread from 3 posts to 4 posts, and by your theory, decreased the value of the information contained herein. So thank you for your contribution.
On the otherhand, I continue to extend my question to others. So please, if anyone else has any insight or experience with Mountain Lion time machine backups and whether or not they are backward compatible with Lion, please let me know!
