Q: bluetooth music issues after iOS6 update

Ok, i just updated to iOS6 today.  I jump in my car to drive home, and now my radio ( pioneer svh-p3400BH) no longer shows any sont info when bluetooth streaming.  I used to get artist, album, and song info.   Also, when i connect it via USB, i no longer get genra infr ( pop/rock, classical, ect).

Any ideas?  if this a firmware on Pioneers side, or is the blue tooth messed up in iOS6?

I also have the Apline 133BT and i thought maybe a firmware update would work but when trying to find the files i ran across this. I went from an iPhone4 to a 5 and now i am able to listen to the music and take calls but i am not able to skip songs like everyone else is having issues with. I really hope they come up with something soon.

I have a Sony Xplod MEX-BT2800 installed in my car. It worked just fine when I installed iOS6 on my iPhone 4. Last week I upgraded to the 5 and now I can't get my phone to find my stereo.

I even removed the pairing from my Iphone 4 before getting rid of it and deleting all paired devices on my stereo. It still didn't work so I reset my stereo to original settings and still couldn't get them to pair up.

My 3 month old Alpine 137 wont allow me to change the track or stop or start after upgrade to IOS6. Streaming still works. Hope I dont have a wreck trying to manage the iPhone while driving.

It wouldn't matter to Apple if you did have a crash, their obvious response would be that you shouldn't use the iphone when driving, in the same way the police now do. Even though before Apple forced the updated firmware on you and the setup in your car (like mine and the all the others affected) used to work flawlessly. Regardless of which party failed to follow the bluetooth standard, it was IOS 6 that 'actually' broke something that did work for us on IOS5. I agree that things should move forward, but issues like this do little to inspire confidence in any future 'upgrades' to Apple hardware.

I agree that this issue HAS made the risk of people who relied on steering wheel controls more likely to consider reaching for their phone when they know they really shouldn't and that the IOS6 update has POTENTIALLY increased the risk of drivers doing just that.

I used to have music playing through my iphone while the phone was dash mounted as a sat nav. That way I had music that was automatically silenced while the sat nav spoke out turns, but which also allowed for control of tracks via the steering wheel. Without that option available to me, I now keep the phone in my pocket, I have removed the satnav mount for the phone and am using an old TomTom satnav instead. Music in the car is now played much quieter than before as the satnav (at full volume) has to effectively shout over the music.

My upgrade to an iPhone 5 was a massive downgrade in terms of using the phone for what I once used to.

With the bluetooth issue, my phone is something of a rotten apple.

I had read many problems concerning bluetooth and Iphone 5. For this reason I kept my iphone 4 to use in my cars, intead of selling it as I had done with my previous upgrades. I was very fortunate that after the 6.0.1 uprade to my 5 ALL my bluetooth devices and cars worked perfectly as before. I was on my way to purchase trhe Samsung Galaxy 3 until I read they were issues with connecting the phone to my Acura. I am seriouly thinking of the iphone 5 as being my last apple phone. It seems as though they are no longer inovative as before, but playing follow the leader.

    Clarion owners,

After updating to 6.0.1 and it not correcting my issues with my Clarion NX-602, I decided I would call Clarion and get their point of view.

They mentioned they would be performing an update to their units and are working with Apple. I tried to get some background on it and they mentioned that this happened with the 5.0 update and again with 6.0 update. I tried to get an ETA on when this fix might go out and they wouldn't say but offered to call me.

I had to do some funky things in the Clarion phone-tree to speak with them - I'll update this thread if I actually get a call.

On a related side note, I tried pairing an iPhone 5 - no luck.

    Super frustrating experience.

I'd like to go back to 5.0.. Anyone have rock-solid instructions for going back in OS? I'll give you a sweet hug or an internet bro-fist if you do.

This is what i strange to me. Supposedly, we all had working bluetooth with our different car units prior ios. Then we upgrade to 6.0 or 5.0.1 and now there are problems, except my Acura,  and two Motorola car bluetooth. My Motorola car bluetooth has the oldest HF profile, yet it works perfect with my iphone 5. I wonder what changed in OP units. Do different manufactures use different HF Profiles, or is there suppose to be a standard? The iphone with ios 6 supposedly uses a new profile HF4 which is suppose to be backward compatible, which it is in my case.

I didn't read through all 36 pages of comments, but I just want to add (incase it hasn't been touched on yet) that the Alpine CDE-HD138BT also does not work correctly when connected to the iPhone5 via bluetooth. I can open my phone and play through vehicle speakers, however, as many others have said, it will not allow remote control from the deck, display artist/track info, or render functional, any of the great functions I purchased the Alpine deck for. Wish I would have done my homework on the phone before purchasing. Guess I have begun to assume that apple products are dialed before they are released. (I really hope this issue is resolved in a timely manner)

Having the same issue with a Parrot Mki9100 system. This may be out there already in a post somewhere, but just received this message from Parrot:

Our engineering team is currently looking into the issues with  A2DP (Audio music streaming) and AVRCP (Audio music controls), at this time we are working on a software update to provide better compatibility but at this time I am not sure when it will be available to download

    Thanks For Choosing Parrot

Not too keen on the rewording of pioneers site info on the issue. It's gone from a simple compatibility list, to a 'look how good we are, we tested everything and here is what works' kind of comment.

As one of those affected with a pioneer unit and an iPhone 5, I would be much happier to see something in that text saying they were actually addressing the problem and will fix the issue, rather than just saying this works and that doesn't. for those who haven't seen it already, this is straight from their uk page :-

It might be in here somewhere I am not sure. But..... I'm not too sure of all the issues we are talking about. I just ordered an iPhone 5 and this whole bluetooth thing is worrying me. Lol.... Can someone tell me all the issues with bluetooth that is happening, and my major question.... Does the handsfree calling at least work? I have the pioneer avh-p3400bh and I love how it pairs to your phone and you can make phone calls through it and have handfree calling. Does this part still work at least?

An answer ASAP would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

    Thanks!

Hey chan. I have the Pioneer AVH-2400BT and iPhone 4S. After "upgrading" to IOS 6 I see the following issues:

    • No longer begins playing automatically where it left off (worked great with Pandora, Rdio, etc before IOS 6)
    • No artist, track, genre information is displayed

I've heard others say that the controls on the display no longer worked. I never really used the controls anyway. I was so happy that it would just start playing when I turned on my car. Now I have to control everything from the phone, including starting one of the music apps.

Good news is the handsfree callling works fine still. Hope that helps a little.

Thanks Fancher!  One more if you don't mind. Will all these issues still happen if I use the pioneer iPhone cord to plug it in and use pandora and my music?? Or are all these issues just if your trying to use the wireless Bluetooth?
