No, something else like the way SSD works and is or isn't mounting.
I have similar setups though nothing is partitioned.
Windows 8 is on SSD and OS X is on 10K WD VR 150GB.
Windows 8 on a PC with UEFI will use that but not on Mac.
What SSD. Is the firmware current. How about when you pull Windows disk. Even how Mac OS is installed or cloned to an SSD can matter.
And just for fun, should not matter, swap drive bays.
When you installed Windows though, because you partitioned (I never do) you had to use Boot Camp Assistant rather than just let Windows 8 format and setup the hard drive on its own (a nude drive without any partitions is actually best or formatted with Windows 8 rather than anything else). BCA is not needed except where you do what you did, share a drive.
Also pulling all drives except the one where Windows will go during Windows install.
