Will my files be deleted if i install OS X Mountain Lion to my MacBook Pro if i have a OS X v10.8.6 oper system??

    I think you mean 10.6.8, and no, your files will not be deleted. It's always wise to have a backup before a major upgrade, though.

    i think you mean that i have to secure myself by coping my files to some hard disc or some flash?

    The very best protection is to make a complete backup of your hard drive to an external drive. You can use Time Machine, or a free cloning software like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper. That way, if the upgrade fails, you can still boot to the external drive and restore all your original files.

     

    Next best is to make a copy of your user files - all your documents, music, photos, videos, mail, etc. Essentially, copy your home folder to another location. You may be able to fit this data onto a large flash drive.

     

    Generally, it's advisable to have a regular backup system in place - again, I recommend Time Machine (included in OS X) because it's automatic, regular and frequent - you attach an external drive, turn TM on, and forget about it.

     

    And no, your Windows boot camp will also not be deleted when you upgrade.
