I have an IMAC.  I created a new folder on my desk top with no information in it.  I went to delete the folder and it asks for my password and still will not delete it.   How can I get the computer to allow me to delete this folder.  I can't even move it on the desk top.  Any help would be great.  Thanks.

iMac (24-inch), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Check the permission on that folder. Right click and select Get Info. You may have to select the little lock on the bottom right of the Get Info window to change any settings.  At the bottom under Sharing & Permissions look for your username and make sure it says under privilage it set to read & write. Hopefully that will work.

    Is it locked?

If you select the icon's folder and press cmd+i to get infos, is it the checkbox locked checked?
