I don't think they'll issue a support document until they know what the problem is, and they still don't know what the problem is.  They're still "capturing" and the support staff won't know anything until engineering releases information.

What I've been able to gleen so far is that it appears that the problem is between the HDMI output and monitors that are more than a couple years old.  They still don't know if this is hardware related (ie, the chip) or if it's the HDMI output, or whether this can be fixed via software update, firmware update, etc.

Is anybody seeing this problem on a monitor that is ~<2 years old?

My monitor is 1 year old HP.  I def. have the problem on the HDMI output.  Am now trying it on the Thunderbolt - using minidvi to dvi adaptor.  Give it a few days and I'll let you know if continues to work.

It's a brand spanking new i7 2.6Ghz with 1st 16Gb now 8Gb mem.  Wonderful machine other than this "minor" {;>) problem.

I guess they're really lost with this one then.  I was told it "older montiors" - I'm on a 20" Apple Cinema Display that is about 5 years old.  If this is hitting new mointors as well...

Considering your experienes, Tom, I'd probably be done with Apple at this point as well - they certainly don't sound like they're taking care of you!

Is this a hardware or software issue? I wonder what is the solution for this?

My first Mac computer. Mac Mini 2012 2.5GHz 4GB has the same issue. Factory HDMI-DVI adapter to DELL P2310H via original DVI cable came with the monitor.

While using the computer, the screen suddenly turns black for 0.5 ro 1 second then shows a screenfull universe background noise (snowy screen) for 0.5 second, then everything back to normal.

I tried briefly with another monitor, ST2320L via HDMI cable. It showed similar problem but without the snowy after 1 second black screen.

This happens randomly and infrequently. Maybe once a day or two or maybe longer. It happened when using Xcode, using Google Chrome, when watching Youtube, etc.

I requested a refund RMA from Apple and my MacMini was picked-up by the courier today.  The monitor I have is only 1 month old, I purchased it specially to use with the Mini.

    Folks, seriously. TRY THIS!

I had non stop blinking through HDMI.

I installed this update from Apple over the existing 10.8.2 version on my Mini and it fixed the issue!

You have nothing to lose by giving it a try and reporting back.

I also tried to reinstall 10.8.2 with no improvement.

What are people's thoughts on sending the unit back for refund until a fix is found?

I also tried installing 10.8.2 on this unit and the one before it without any improvement. I will talk with the guys at Apple on Thursday before deciding what to do with the unit I have now.
