when I plug in my iphone 4 into my 2012 GMC Teriian It shows doubles, some times tripple of songs.  It only does this with my phone, there are not doubles on my phone.  did a restore today still doing it. I have 94 songs on my phone... shows I have 207 in the Terrian????? Why? Called Apple they said if there are doubles only in the vehicle then the problem is the car radio..... dealorship says its my phone.....

Anyone ever heard of this.... drives me crazy as it plays each song 2 or 3 times...... grrr

Sounds like a bug in the head unit. The dealer most likely doesn't know what they're talking about. Contact GM customer support directly. Most dealers don't have a clue, especially when it comes to the electronics.

Did you ever get this resolved? I've been going crazy trying to fix this. I have 4 and 5 copies of tracks that I have to skip over to use my iphone! Not much fun. Thank goodness I have XM radio!

I was FINALLY able to clear the duplicates. I tried plugging in a variety of iPods and iPhones. Some wouldn't work at all (older nanos) and some worked fine (my daughter's iPhone = no duplicates). Then I plugged my iPad in (which I've done before) and it reindexed it for some odd reason. After uplugging the iPad, I plugged my iPhone back in and all is well again! It's definitely an indexing issue on the car radio and there's no way to force it to reindex.  Weird but I'm glad to have it resolved. I was up to 10 duplicates per track (total of over 3000 tracks listed on an iphone that has about 350 songs on it!

I'm having this same issue with my 2013 Terrain.  Same deal, took it to the dealership and they say everything's fine with the radio.  So I've got a case open with GM customer support.

I've tried the reindexing trick a few times, but it never sticks.  For whatever reason the iPod will also reset at random, kicking it back to the am/fm.  Then it reindexes once it reboots.  So the stupid thing thinks I have 10000 songs when I only have like 3400.

Also, quite a few songs don't even show up through the head unit (any song name starting with Mr., for instance.  Mr. Self Destruct by NIN, Mr. Brownstone by GNR . . . neither one show up, either in album or song view).

I found a few people with the same problem here:  http://www.terrainforum.net/index.php?topic=4715.0.  Of particular interest is the post from Warchilde which suggests a fix, however the terminology is foreign to me, and the people at the dealership didn't seem to have a clue either.  I pm'd him through the forum and never got a response.

I'm really hoping to get this resolved as well.  iPod integration is a pretty high priority for me as I hate the radio and cds are so inconvenient.  This would put me off buying another GM vehicle.

Do your songs play properly through another device?

If the problem only occurs with the car radio, and not anywhere else, then it's the car radio.

Basic troubleshooting: If the problem is specific to one location or one device or one situation, and otherwise works fine, then it's related tot hat specific location, device or situation.

Example:  My iPhone 5 cellular reception is fine everywhere, except at my friend's house.  Is the problem with my phone, or with the location?

Example: My iPhone 5 connects to Wi-Fi networks with no problem everywhere except at my friend's house.  Is the problem with my phone, or with his Wi-Fi?

Basic logic.  Test the device with another system.  If the problem doesnt show up... then what do YOU think is causing the problem?
